If you’re a girl (or guy) who was growing up from the 90s onwards it is pretty likely you’ll be familiar with the concept of the ‘BFF’ (a.k.a. ‘best friend forever’). There have been countless TV besties to fill our hearts with joy over the years but here are just a few of our favourites…
1. Monica and Rachel (and Phoebe) – Friends.
Oh, what we wouldn’t give to have friends like Monica, Rachel and Phoebe. These ladies brought new meaning to the term “I’ll be there for you” and definitely taught us the true meaning of friendship (laughter, tears, catfights and all!).

2. Chandler and Joey – Friends.
Forever our favourite guy BFFs, Chandler and Joey were the ultimate modern day odd couple, making us laugh repeatedly before making us cry at the sincerity of their lifelong friendship.

3. Marissa and Summer – The O.C.
We can’t decide what we loved best about Summer and Marissa’s friendship: Marissa’s amazing hair or Summer’s incredible ability to forgive her friend repeatedly for being – let’s face it – a bit of an idiot. Did we mention she had great hair though?

4. Seth and Ryan – The O.C.
You’ve got to love it when two guys from opposite walks of life become the best of friends. This was the best bit about Seth (the loveable geek) and Ryan (the bad boy turned good)’s touching friendship, seeing them come to blows with many an Orange County bully.

5. Turk and J.D. – Scrubs.
Pretty much the ultimate ‘bro-mance’, these two jokers were never far from each other’s sides at the Sacred Heart Hospital, ready to crack wise at any given opportunity.

6. Daria and Jane – Daria.
Daria and Jane definitely taught us that if you find someone in high school who shares your deep love of sarcasm, then you must hold on to them for dear life. These two were unquestionably the epitome of being a teenager in the 90s.

7. Serena and Blair – Gossip Girl.
Not dissimilar to some of the other ‘gal pals’ on this list, Serena and Blair certainly had their differences. But they certainly proved that, no matter what, you should stick by your friend whatever life throws at you – even when they are a complete nightmare.

8. Meredith and Christina – Grey’s Anatomy.
I don’t know about you, but if our best friend basically ignored all of our life’s woes to focus on their own personal melodrama we would kick them to the curb. But this is somehow not the case for Meredith and Christina, who have managed to maintain a solid friendship through 13 seasons of the hit show Grey’s Anatomy. Perhaps it is down to their shared love of very attractive men.

9. Jess and Cece – New Girl.
Another unlikely friendship pairing – the gorgeous model and the kooky-yet-loveable misfit – these two make our hearts melt constantly by the way they stick by each other’s side through thick and thin.

10. Hannah and Marnie – Girls.
We all have that friend we can share anything with. Well, if you think you know that friend well, then Hannah and Marnie will give you a run for your money, even going as far as to take baths together so that they can talk about the guys in their lives without them knowing about it.
