5 Reasons to Eat Healthy

The reasons for eating healthy are numerous and often such lists are comprised of 100 or even more points, because yes – eating healthy is that important. Now this is a list of only 5 reasons, but once you stick to these, feel free to add your own and improve your life!

1. Happiness

You know how they say that real happiness is so difficult to define because it actually is nothing more than a myth? Well, eating healthy is not a step-by-step recipe, I mean, it does not possess all the right ingredients to happiness, but it sure is a great step in the right direction and it’s scientifically proven. According to a study consisting of 300 participants, fruit and vegetables do make us happier. The participants were made to write journals or psychological and mood-related pieces for three weeks and it seems that as they ate more vegetables and fruit, they became more energetic, calm and full of life.

2. Brain function improvement

Eating the right category of foods will actually help improve the brain functions. From increasing your ability to concentrate to reducing cognitive problems, you can do it all by eating healthy. Broccoli and cauliflower are two of the top vegetables on the brain power boosting foods list, as they contain choline which is a B vitamin. Nuts and red meat are also beneficial to a healthy mind.

3. A restful sleep

Era of technology and speed, the century we live in is a great stress maker. Constantly focused on our jobs and routine, it’s so very difficult to enjoy a tranquil night’s sleep. If you have a Facebook or a Twitter account beeping incessantly, you can say goodbye to sleeping correctly and regularly. If on the other hand you wish to adjust your sleeping routine, here are some hints on what to eat before actually going to bed.

A glass of milk may sound like a childish idea, but it really is efficient. If you are lactose intolerant and more of a fruit enthusiast, cherries can equally benefit a good night’s sleep, or if you wanna spice things up, choose a Valerian tea. We wish you a soothing goodnight!

4. A great body

Even if you don’t add gym trips to your healthy eating regime, by eating a balanced diet you will definitely look and feel younger both on the inside and on the outside. It is true that healthy eating will not give you a six-pack, but it’s definitely the first thing to do if you want to have the perfect body. Apart from maintaining a balanced weight, eating healthy will also bring that certain glow to your skin and reduces the aging process.

5. Money

As shallow as it may seem, this fifth reason for eating healthy is the amount of money it can save you when compared to eating out. Most restaurants concentrate on taste rather than health, so you can find a large amount of fat and calories when dining in your favourite restaurant.

Fast food can be inexpensive, however for the same price or less you should be able to rustle up a much healthier alternative at home, especially if you opt for vegetarian options which are both healthy and easy on the wallet.

Eating well will also save you money in the long term from reducing the risk of illnesses. Serious medical conditions can arise from a poor diet such as obesity, heart disease and even depression from not eating well. All of these conditions will cost you financially in the long term, so avoid them be eating a healthy balanced diet.
