Films We Need To See In 2017

There are so many promising films coming this 2017 and we can’t wait to watch it all. We missed a few films that we wanted to add to this list. But the good news is we still have more films to watch out for in the coming months. Fans who love superhero movies will surely love this year because it will be full of movies with our favorite ones. Here are the films the we need to see this 2017. Check it out!

1. Ghost in the Shell

The movie was surrounded by controversy ever since they announced that the Masamune Shirow’s manga series will have a live action Hollywood adaptation. The reason is that Scarlett Johansson will portray the role of the cyborg cop The Major who was a Japanese in the manga and anime series. But despite the “whitewashing” controversy, many people are still excited to watch the movie. The story is about a cyborg field commander who leads a taskforce called Section 9 against cybercrime and terrorism. Also starring Pilou Asbæk and Michael Pitt and directed by Rupert Sanders. Ghost in the Shell will be released on March 31, 2017.

2. Alien: Covenant

This is Ridley Scott’s sequel to the 2012 movie Prometheus and the prequel to the Alien franchise. It was Christmas last year that 20th Century Fox released the trailer of the film that delighted the “Alien” fans. A coolony ship Covenant’s crew found an uncharted paradise only to find out that it is not what they think it seems. Michael Fassbender is back as the android David. He is the survivor of then Prometheus expedition but also playing as another android by the name of Walter. Noomi Rapace who played Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus is back as well together with new crew; Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz and Guy Pierce. It was also reported that James Franco will appear in the movie too. Alien: Covenant is scheduled to hit theaters on May 19, 2017.

3. Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot will play again as Wonder Woman who first debuted in the film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice directed by Patty Jenkins. The plot will be about the Amazon Princess Diana of Themyscira who will meet Steve Trevor played by Chris Pine that will convince her to leave the life she knew to stop the war that was happening in the world. Wonder Woman film will release on June 2, 2017 distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

4. Spider Man: Homecoming

Spider Man movies for the past years are under Sony Studios. But this year Marvel Studios and Sony had a deal to have a second reboot of Spider Man series. Tom Holland who was first introduced as Spider Man in the film Captain America: Civil War will continue the Spider Man franchise and will be under the direction of Jon Watts. The story begins as the high school student Peter Parker tries to maintain an ordinary life while fighting crime. Spider Man: Homecoming movie is scheduled to premiere on July 7, 2017.

5. War for the Planet of the Apes

The war between humans and apes isn’t over but just the beginning of the biggest war that can change the world they’re living in. Ape leader Caesar (Andy Serkins) and the apes will face another battle with the human soldiers lead by The Colonel. Woody Harrelson will play the role of The Colonel. This is the third film in the Planet of the Apes rebooted series and directed by Rupert Wyatt and Matt Reeves. War for the Planet of the Apes premieres on July 14, 2017.

6. The Dark Tower

The Dark Tower is an upcoming 2017 film based on the series of novels by Stephen King. The story is about the gunslinger Ronald Deschain who’s searching for the Dark Tower that he hopes will save his dying world. But with The Man in Black – Walter Padick who was also looking for the magical Dark Tower it will be a difficult quest for Deschain. Starring Idris Elba as Ronald Deschain and Matthew McConaughey as Walter Padick. Directed and co-written by Nikolaj Arcel. Premieres at July 28, 2017 in the cinemas near you.

7. It

Another Stephen King novel “It” will have film adaptation but with a new treatment this time. Directed by Andrés Muschietti (Mama) and screenplay by Gary Dauberman, Chase Plamer and Cary Fukunaga. Starring Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise The Dancing Clown, a demonic entity who will terrorized seven children. There is a change in the timeline of the story as it was set in the 1980s than the original 1950s. Pennywise’s outfit made by the Emmy-winning costume designer Janie Bryant is also one of the new changes in the movie. The movie will be split into two parts, the first part will be released in September 2017.

8. Thor: Ragnarok

More superhero movies to look forward to this 2017, and Thor: Ragnarok is one of them. The sequel to 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, will take place in the other side of the universe with not just Thor but with The Incredible Hulk as well. Disney and Marvel released a teaser of what to expect to this addition to the series.

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his home world and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. Thor: Ragnarok premieres on November 3, 2017 and directed by Taika Waititi. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins.

9. Justice League

Justice League is an upcoming film based on the DC comics iconic superhero team. Batman (Ben Affleck ) together with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will look for metahumans from the coming threat to the planet. Assembling a powerful team with Cyborg, Aquaman and The Flash, can they save the planet from the villain Steppenwolf before it is too late? Also starring Amy Adams, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher and directed by Zack Snyder.

Justice Leagues is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 17, 2017.

10. Star Wars : Episode VIII

Star Wars: Episode VIII  is the second installment from the Star Wars Trilogy after 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awaken. Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Benicio del Toro, Star Wars: Episode VIII will hit theaters on December 15, 2017.

So far there is a little information of what can we expect to the movie and what else can the new director add to this space drama. But Johnson revealed in an interview with USA Today that the central plot of the movie will be “What’s going on with Luke Skywalker?”
