The Met Gala is never an easy time for men to be creative with their fashion choices. However, it certainly is a time to master the beauty of the tailored suit and bow tie. Some of these guys have even been clever and made sure that they’re photographed with the most beautiful women on the planet accessorised on their arm. Here are just a few of our favourites…
1. Ryan Reynolds
After a few years’ worth of show-stopping Met Gala outfits, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are always the most hotly anticipated couple to arrive on the not-so-red carpet. With male dressing it’s all in the details and this year Ryan has been praised for the elegance of his blue silk bow tie to match the variation of shades of the feathers adorning Blake’s dress

2. Eddie Redmayne
Personifying the epitome of an English gentleman, Eddie Redmayne’s double-breasted Prada suit was highly praised at this year’s Met Gala and even though it wasn’t expected to match the purple of his wife Hannah Bagshawe’s, it somehow worked.

Who better than the live-action embodiment of Beauty and the Beast’s Gaston to cause a stir on the red carpet? With his endearingly handsome smile and perfectly paired Louis Vuitton suit, Luke Evans was definitely a hit with the fashion press.

6. Donald Glover
One of the quirkier male outfits of the night, Donald Glover sported a Burberry tuxedo that in some ways could be likened to a 70s smoking jacket. Surprisingly though it worked really well and even helped his debonair charm to shine through.

7. Riz Ahmed
It certainly isn’t always easy to pull off an all-black ensemble but The Night Of star Riz Ahmed stepped up to the challenge and succeeded spectacularly in his Dior Homme suit.

8. Tom Brady
We can’t remember the last time we saw Tom Brady grace a red carpet without his wife Giselle on his arm but why on earth wouldn’t he want to accessorise with one of the best-looking models on the planet? Nevertheless, these two looked utter perfection – Giselle in her Stella McCartney dress and Tom in a silk Tom Ford tuxedo – and rightly so seeing as they were both co-chairs for the evening.

9. John Legend
Another star to call upon the power of Burberry to tailor his white Met Gala suit, John Legend’s red carpet persona wouldn’t have been complete without his wife Chrissy Teigen, who was dressed in an avant-garde Marchesa masterpiece.
