On Monday 27th November 2017, the news was announced that Prince Harry is due to marry his American girlfriend Meghan Markle and quite frankly the world couldn’t have been happier about it. So now that we have a new member joining the British royal family we thought it high time that we looked in to exactly what we know about Ms. Markle…
1. She starred in US television show Suits.
It’s hard to believe that Suits has graced our screens for an astonishing 7 seasons and this is where the public first got to know and love Meghan, who plays the popular character Rachel Zane.

2. Her real name is Rachel.
Much to the delight of Suits fans, it turns out that Meghan’s real name according to her birth certificate is Rachel Meghan Markle. Why she wanted to change her name we’re not sure, but perhaps it’s for the best now so that things didn’t get too confusing.

3. She’s a trained calligrapher.
As it turns out, Meghan Markle is so good at calligraphy that it is what she did to make money before her acting career took off. She even did the invites for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding.

4. She’s a serious activist.
One thing that won’t be new to Meghan in her royal role will be the charity work. She is already an advocate for women’s rights (with a notable speech at the UN under her belt) and an ambassador for World Vision, who promote the campaign for clean water in third world countries.

5. She loves dogs.
Meghan has two rescue dogs, Bogart and Guy, one of which will be staying with her friends in America and the other who has now moved to live with her in London. It is worth noting also that in Prince Harry’s words “the corgis [at Buckingham Palace] took to her instantly”.

6. She met Prince Harry through one of his old school friends.
According to reports, the pair were introduced by fashion designer Misha Nonoo, who is married to one of Prince Harry’s oldest friends Alexander Gilkes. Apparently Nonoo was convinced they would hit it off and how right she was!

7. She’s best friends with Serena Williams.
After meeting at a charity soccer match (pictured below) Markle and Williams became thick as thieves with many speculating that she will be chosen to be Meghan’s bridesmaid when she marries Prince Harry in May 2018.

8. She used to have a website called ‘The Tig’.
Although she has sadly decided to close it, Meghan ran a successful lifestyle website called ‘The Tig’, which was apparently inspired by the first moment she tried the wine ‘Tiganello’.

9. She was the most Googled actress of 2016.
This is perhaps unsurprising considering that 2016 was the year that the press got hold of the news that she was dating Prince Harry. Nonetheless, it is still a pretty impressive statistic.

10. She is now going to be living in London full-time.
This definitely makes sense considering that Prince Harry has certain responsibilities to adhere to in the UK and now the world can’t wait to see what Ms. Markle is going to do next. In the words of Prince Charles’s wife Camilla Parker-Bowles, “America’s loss is our gain”.
