It’s hard to believe we’re half way in to 2017 but alas it is true. And with this comes a whole new set of fashion rules to follow; some similar to last season and some completely contemporary in their own right. But there’s no need to panic. We are here to help, so here is a breakdown of everything you need to know for fashionable dressing in 2017…
1. Florals
Florals have very much taken precedent in recent years and it’s safe to say that, if anything, you should try and include as many as you can in your outfits.

2. Stripes
We’re not talking pinstripe here; 2017 is now all about the ‘statement stripe’. So if your stripes are chunky, minimal or even just broken up then you’re on to a winner.

3. Bright Colours
Fashion isn’t about colour-blocking anymore (when you put two bright colours together). Oh no, it is now much more about choosing one all-over bright colour and rocking it.

4. The ‘Anti-Shirt’
Suffice to say, designers have very much grown tired of the traditional shirt so have decided to deconstruct it so that it can be worn any way but normally.

5. Tulle
This is a trend we’re very happy about and tulle is now being used in so much more than just skirts, so we can all indulge our ‘inner princesses’ from time to time.

6. Ruffles
Ruffles are very much a love/hate embellishment for designers but this season they are in favour, taking on a variety of different forms, be it crossing a ‘Bardot top’ or lining the hem of a dress.

7. Sportswear
It’s safe to say sportswear isn’t just about throwing on a Nike t-shirt and trainers anymore. Aside from dominating high street fashion in recent years, sportswear has come in to its own on several designer catwalks, showing just how versatile it can actually be.

8. Kitten Heels
This is great news for people who find stilettos that bit too painful to wear. The ‘Kitten Heel’ is back and hopefully this smaller heel will be here to stay – for a while least so our feet can recover!

9. The 80s
The exact term for this trend is ‘80s Redux’ which is basically all about taking the minimalist elements of the 80s, such as high waistlines and loose sleeves, and adapting them in to your outfits.

10. The 70s
Even though there is the distinct feeling that the 70s are on their way out, they will still be sticking around for this summer in the form of plunging necklines and ridiculously flared trousers.
