Don’t you just love a controversial celebrity romance? This is never more prominent than with – what some like to refer to as – ‘inappropriate age gaps’, but who are we to judge? I can’t say I’d have a problem with it if George Clooney showed up on my doorstep.
Here are a few of our favourites…
1. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones.
This is definitely one of the best celebrity age gaps, in my opinion: Michael Douglas proving that a great personality and sense of humour can get you everywhere by scoring one of the best looking women on the planet. And, despite a 6-month split a few years ago the couple are stronger than ever, celebrating their 15-year anniversary this year.

2. Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart.
With a 23-year age gap between them, it isn’t hard to see why Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart’s relationship has continuously made headlines. But seeing as they have been going strong for 13 years now, they must be doing something right.

3. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
With all the other drama that surrounds the power couple ‘Brangelina’, it’s easy to forget that there is actually a gap of 11 years between them. Who would have thought?

4. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
A fairly new couple on the scene, Johnny Depp and his new wife Amber Heard boast a 23-year age gap, which seems quite fitting for their quirkiness, really.

5. Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
I can’t quite work out whether it’s because Jason Statham looks younger than his 48 years or whether the stunning Rosie Huntington-Whiteley just looks older than 28, but I personally never would have guessed that there is actually a huge 20 years between the two of them.

6. Charlize Theron and Sean Penn.
Although sadly no longer an item, these two had been friends for years before they got together and did not let the 15 year age-gap stop them falling in love. Here’s hoping there’s some way they can make it work, as we thought they were a pretty damn-cool match.

7. Ellen De Generes and Portia De Rossi.
It seems that 15 years is just the right amount of years apart to make a great relationship last and this is also the case for Ellen Degeneres and wife Portia De Rossi, who have gone from strength to strength since they first got together in 2004.

8. Bradley Cooper and Suki Waterhouse.
Another recent split to upset the celebrity world, Bradley Cooper and Suki Waterhouse shared an age gap of 17 years but did not let that stop their relationship lasting over two years.

9. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
Another couple whom you wouldn’t necessarily guess are a decade apart in age: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have certainly cracked the right way to ‘do Hollywood’ as a couple, giving very little away about their relationship apart from when she fell pregnant with their first child James in 2014 – that was kind of obvious.

10. Hugh Hefner and all of his girlfriends.
Yeah, so, I can’t deny that I find the whole Hugh Hefner thing pretty creepy. As much as it’s completely glorified for him to have girls half his age running around the playboy mansion, his ex-girlfriend (and former ‘head bunny’) Holly Madison has recently come out naming all manner of misogynistic behaviour that she was subjected to during the course of her relationship with him. It’s definitely enough to make your skin crawl, that’s for sure.
